Caspy Commodity Exchange joins Europex as associate member

Caspy Commodity Exchange (CCX) joined Europex as an associate member as of today.

CCX exist since 2011 and are based in Astana, Kazakhstan. The exchange offers trading in a variety of energy- and non-energy-related commodities. In addition, it operates a trading platform for emission allowances under the Kazakhstan Emissions Trading System.

Besides their current activities, CCX intend to resume electricity auctions and to extend their offering to a cleared futures market with an even stronger focus on energy trading in Kazakhstan and the wider region.

Christian Baer, Secretary General of Europex, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Caspy Commodity Exchange as an associate member. Kazakhstan and the wider Caspian region are important energy hubs and are strongly interrelated with European energy markets. We look forward to an insightful exchange of experiences, including CCX’ longstanding expertise in operating an emission allowance market outside the EU ETS.”

With the addition of CCX, Europex now comprises 34 members of which three are associate members.
