Lucas Schmeddes is President and COO of ICE Endex, the leading energy exchange in continental Europe. ICE Endex provides liquid European gas, emissions and power markets that enable energy firms, EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) compliance entities and financial participants to effectively manage price risk. It also offers gas balancing markets in the Netherlands and the U.K. (OCM) which help ensure the distribution of gas to homes and businesses. 

From 2014 to 2022 Lucas was instrumental in launching ICE Futures Singapore and ICE Clear Singapore and consequently heading the exchange and clearinghouse as their President and COO. This involved building local market and clearing infrastructure to further grow and develop the derivatives industry in Asia Pacific and provide customers with execution and clearing services in their local regulatory jurisdictions. 

From 2007 to 2013 Lucas held the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of ICE Endex and its predecessors. He has also held senior finance positions in high growth business units of APX and TNT.  Lucas graduated from Tilburg University in the Netherlands with an MA in econometrics and has an MBA from INSEAD.
