Energy Markets Adviser
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Energy Markets Adviser to join the Europex Secretariat in Brussels on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will report directly to the Secretary General and provide support to the Europex Working Groups. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of policy at the intersection of different commodity markets, including power, natural gas and low-carbon gases, including hydrogen, emission allowances and guarantess of origin.
responsibilities and tasks
- Monitor and analyse EU policy developments related to energy commodity markets, including key regulatory initiatives such as the Electricity Market Design Reform, the Gas Decarbonisation and Hydrogen Package, MiFID/MiFIR, REMIT, EMIR and others.
- Support Europex Working Groups by providing advice on content, structuring workflows and facilitating consensus on common positions.
- Draft position papers, consultation responses, presentations and speaking notes to effectively support policy advocacy efforts.
- Coordinate advocacy initiatives with European institutions, including ACER, ESMA, national ministries, and regulatory bodies, to promote Europex’s policy objectives.
- Organise and support external policy events designed to advance Europex’s strategic goals, including conferences, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
- Assist in planning and executing internal events, such as Board meetings and General Assemblies, ensuring seamless logistics and effective communication.
- Foster and maintain professional relationships with key EU institutions, associations, and stakeholders, particularly through participation in policy events and technical workshops.
profile of the candidate
- A degree in a relevant field such as economics, energy, finance, European studies, political science, law or similar.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in EU affairs, with a solid understanding of EU energy policy and/or wholesale energy markets design.
- In-depth knowledge of the workings of the European institutions and EU policy processes.
- Excellent drafting skills with a strong command of written and spoken English. Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with a range of external stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt technical content for different audiences and communication channels.
- Highly organised, with a keen attention to detail and an independent work style.
- Comfortable working in a multinational and multicultural professional environment.
- Advanced proficiency in standard office software and IT tools.
